Year 4

This autumn we have been learning about the Terrible Tudors -  just how terrible were they?  This was linked across the curriclum as we wrote stories set in this historical period; painted Tudor Portraits; created our own court jesters; constructed Tudor buildings; and learned about the monarchy as well as exploring how the rich and poor Tudors lived.

We enjoyed a fantastic morning with the 'Tudor Maydes' who taught us about what poor people wore and ate.  Some of us got to dress up in Tudor clothes! We also found out about the work they did and the kind of punishments they had to endure if they committed a crime.

We sang Tudor songs in a 'catch' and learnt a Tudor dance.  It was great fun!  If that wasn't enough, we also perfomed 'George and the Dragon' and ended the morning with a game played by Tudor children.  It was a great experience!

We enjoyed a Design and Technology day where we made our own Tudor houses.

We were really lucky because Ben Wilson, a researcher for history programmes on television came to talk to us about Henry VIII.  He knew so much about Henry and told us funny stories about Henry VIII's life.  We learnt so much!

Thank you to Mrs. Smyly for arranging it!
