Mission Statement
“ A school which makes you long for childhood”
At Sedgeberrow Church of England First School our main aim is to provide a welcoming, secure and stimulating learning environment where all staff and children are HAPPY. Within this we then ensure that a combination of excellence in teaching and learning helps every child to develop as an enthusiastic and independent learner within the Christian ethos and values that are part of everyday school life – living, learning, laughing.
We recognise the value of each child as an individual and believe that an effective curriculum will enable all learners to feel gifted and talented. Therefore our staff are committed to a creative and inspirational arts-rich curriculum that will introduce ‘awe and wonder’ into the lives of their pupils who thus become engaged by learning that develops and challenges them and excites their imagination. We encourage children to use the world they live in and prepare them for living in the 21st century.
We aim for the highest possible quality of learning and teaching in order to continually raise standards. We believe that learning builds on the needs of the children and thus provide a variety of different teaching styles and practices to ensure progression. Continuous self-evaluation as a result of training, professional development, appraisal, consultation with governors, parents, staff, children and the community underpins school improvement.
We believe that basic standards of good behaviour require all our pupils to be considerate, polite, respectful and helpful towards each other and all adults. We place high importance on self-esteem and healthy living and work hard to ensure that our pupils recognise the need to be responsible ad reliable citizens who can keep to promises made.
